New vs Old - Page conversions
Hi all,
this is a fast note that I'll be giving about the web & structure. Currently you're looking at the Old engine. Afaik, !Base is not ideal way to communicate with, even though my coding talents are good enough, but I prefer to work with vBulletin.
For that the reason vBulletin is active on the forums, how they're looking is just "Basic" and will change through the time. There for, please be patient because I'm still looking for a graphical designer to help me improoving all pages.
Then also included will be the all page conversions as included this on RavenClans.com, RavenFiles.com & RavenCommunity.net. RavenArchives.net will run this version of engine but all login and registrations will be disabled. Furthermore, I'll try to seek a way where I can input all or most of this news on the vB page/section.
So far this quick news, more will be following. You will be able to track most of this via our forums.
regards,
EuT.be

X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse released
The epic battle to save humankind rages on with the release of X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse, the sequel to the best selling X-Men title ever, X-Men Legends, inspired by Marvel’s legendary Super Hero team. The all-new action-role playing game (RPG) allows gamers to create Super Hero dream teams featuring popular X-Men and classic Brotherhood villains as they unite for the first time ever to overcome the ultimate evil -- Apocalypse -- and prevent one of the most devastating attacks ever against mankind. The action filled saga unfolds through challenging single player missions and groundbreaking new online multiplayer modes. “X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse is sure to please X-Men fans everywhere with an original and suspense-filled storyline that teams up the X-Men with the Brotherhood villains for the first time ever,” said Will Kassoy, vice president of global brand management, Activision, Inc. “The diversity gives players an unprecedented arsenal of super powers to employ as they battle an amazing array of enemies in exotic locales in single-player mode or online multiplayer modes with gamers around the world.” In X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse, players create, customize and control teams of four mutants from 16 all-time favorite X-Men and classic Brotherhood villains from the Marvel Universe. With the X-Men and Brotherhood fighting side-by-side for the first time, players switch instantly between teammates wielding many more super powers and skills than X-Men Legends, as they overcome obstacles, solve puzzles and defeat more than 100 types of enemies including Lady Deathstrike and the notorious Four Horsemen of Apocalypse. Delivering significant gameplay enhancements over the first title, X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse challenges players to explore immense, destructible environments set in classic X-Men locations like Genosha and the Infinite Factory, and exotic worldly locales like Egypt and the Savage Lands in both single player and, for the first time ever, online multiplayer action including six multiplayer skirmish modes that offer head-to-head action, fierce battles against enemies, exclusive online content and more!

Finally! We're up and running!
Hi everyone and welcome!
I am John the new owner of the Raven Community.
We took over a little while ago but after some problems with the content management system and then some more bugs and issues we finally have everything ironed out!
There is a ton of awesome information here and as a gaming freak I am excited to carry on the legacy of the previous owners and contributors.
Much will remain the same like informative information from Jorge and Col.J.P. and some things will change a little. A new CMS will be added in the relatively near future and the forum will change soon as well. Don't worry nothing will be lost. All of the content and posts will move as well.
Enjoy!

Kenn Hoekstra leaves Raven Software!
"I'm writing this open letter to announce my resignation from Raven Software effective Wednesday, June 30th and to let everyone know that this pending departure is both amicable and mutual. What can I say? It's been a hell of a ride.
In the past seven plus years I was fortunate enough to be able to contribute to twelve Raven Software titles alongside the most talented group of people I've ever had the good fortune to work with. I want to thank Raven for giving me the opportunity to start my career in game development and I send out my best wishes to everyone at Raven and Activision for their continued success. I know you'll all do well.
I'm sure the question many of you are asking is "why?" (Then again, maybe you aren't!) Put simply, I've reached a point in my life where it's time for me to move on to new challenges…to take some risks and make some time for a few things I've always wanted to do. I don't deal well with "what might have been" scenarios. That said, there are some shots I need to take and I believe now is the time for me to take them. The way I see it, if I don't do it now, I may never get the chance again."
More details can be found at Kenn's World.
Good luck Kenn!

X-Men Legends Preview at Tom's hardware
There's been a new preview of the X-men Legends game at Tom's Hardware Games and Entertainment:
-------------------------------------
There have been a lot of games based on Marvel's popular X-Men comics. A lot of those games have been... ahem... bad. Fighting games, side-scrollers, platformers, even third-person stealth titles, it seems like none of them have been done right. But then again, none of them were done by Raven Software and none of them have been RPGs. Raven may not be known for RPGs, but they are known for being one of the most solid developers out there and can be reliably counted on for creating a great game, and we are betting they are doing it again.
-------------------------------------
Check out the full preview here.

X-Men Legends -- Rob Gee Video Interview
The X-Men franchise is home to some of the most memorable and colorful characters ever created. Thus, an RPG based on Marvel's acclaimed comic book line is clearly long overdue. Thankfully, Activision and Raven Software are preparing X-Men Legends -- an action-RPG starring some of the most popular characters from the franchise. In appearance, the game is reminiscent of many of the recent console offerings in the genre, such as Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance and Champions of Norrath. But it is very likely that the X-Men affiliation will bring Legends more commercial success than any of these others could dare dream of. GameSpy recently had a chance to speak with Raven's own Robert Gee concerning the development of X-Men Legends, the game's numerous features, and why on earth a team generally known for its PC first-person shooters is heading up one of the most important console role-playing games currently in development.
Take a quick look at this brand-new video interview (careful guys, its 200 megs!) and check out GameSpy's preview of X-Men Legends from E32004!

X-Site Updates
Earlier today / Late Yesterday the X-Site updated with two new features. The first is schematic drawings of the Morlock Sewers which can be found here. The Second feature is part 2 of an interview with Ravengames which talks to a developer about his past experiences with the X-Men comics. Here is an extract:
--------------------------------------------
Mutant Vault: “What is your favorite portion of the game-making process?”
James Justin, Game Programmer for X-Men Legends:
“Puzzle solving. The game's design document says what the game will do, but it says very little about how the game will actually be put together. After this document is created, we have to figure out how to actually turn that design into a game. There's a lot of experimentation, prototyping and overall puzzle solving that is involed with that phase of game development. Since there are several possible solutions to these problems, we have to figure out the solution that will result in the best possible game. That's a hefty intellectual challenge, but that challenge is why I got into game development in the first place!”
--------------------------------------------
Find the interview here.

Spot On: The game-resale crackdown
Some communities now require anyone selling used video games to give fingerprints for police records. The question is: why?
Some stores that buy used video games have begun taking their customers’ fingerprints and turning them over to police, but the stores say they’re just complying with local laws.
In addition to recording drivers license, telephone numbers, and addresses of customers who sell used games or consoles, some are routinely requiring a thumbprint. Retailers are collecting the information under a law intended to regulate pawn shops and make it easy for law enforcement officials to track down thieves who fence stolen goods. A number of states have such laws and Utah passed its own version just last month.

Brain Controlled Video Games Are Coming
A report from CBBC demonstrates the use of a video game controller used to manipulate the game world directly from the brain. In the game Mind Balance, a player dons a lightweight, wireless headset and helps the alien character Mawg walk a tight rope between sci-fi inspired buildings by focusing on left and right flashing boxes. If Mawg sways too much to the left, the player focuses more on the right box to counterbalance. Neither the game not controller are available for purchase, however, this first generation will enable researchers to create more sophisticated applications and devices for retail use. Take a look at BBC News Round. (Source: GameSpy Daily)
